RBC Secures Appointment of Receiver for J&R Transport Inc.
On December 3, 2024, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) appointed msi Spergel inc. as receiver over the assets, undertaking and properties of J&R Transport Inc., an Ontario-based trucking company.
J&R Transport defaulted on its obligations to the Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC”), its secured creditor, by failing to meet scheduled monthly payments under the credit agreement and by not repaying the loan following RBC’s demand. The court determined that the appointment of a receiver was necessary to protect RBC’s interests and facilitate the recovery of its secured debt of more than $7 million.
