Phillips Foods Acquires Assets of Canadian Seafood Processor and Distributor
On March 7, 2024, Phillips Foods Inc., a U.S.-based global processor and distributor of branded seafood products, announced that it will acquire the assets of South Shore Seafoods Group of Companies, a Canadian seafood processor and distributor.
Phillips Foods was established in 1914 in Maryland and has since grown to become one of the world’s leading seafood manufacturers, with operations extending as far as Southeast Asia. This latest acquisition is part of Phillips Foods’ larger plan to expand its operations into Eastern Canada and encompasses multiple plants in Prince Edward Island as well as holding tanks in Nova Scotia. Phillips Foods was awarded the winning bid as part of South Shore Seafoods Group’s CCAA restructuring process.
