Aird & Berlis Guides Canadian Fintech Company on Dual Financing and Strategic Acquisition of French Fintech Assets
On January 1, 2025, a Canadian fintech company completed its concurrent private placement financing and acquisition of the assets of a French fintech company. The private placement involved a convertible note financing arrangement with a U.S. alternative asset management firm.
Aird & Berlis acted as legal counsel for the Canadian company with a financing team led by Aaron Bains and Danny Kharazmi and including Karlie Nordstrom and Isabella Spiliakos (Capital Markets).
Aaron Bains also provided strategic counsel and led the acquisition team, composed principally of French lawyers, in respect of the acquisition of the assets in France.-
