Sanj is a partner and
member of the firm’s Litigation, Financial Services and Transportation Groups. He
assists private and public companies, municipalities and financial institutions
with their most complex commercial problems. These include disputes arising
from commercial transactions, disagreements amongst shareholders and
development disputes.
Sanj’s skill and
creativity allow him to implement the most strategic and effective courses of
action to best position his clients for success at mediation, arbitration or
trial. For more than twenty years, Sanj has effectively advocated for his
clients’ interests in Ontario’s trial and appellate courts, before administrative
tribunals, at private arbitrations and at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Sanj’s practical
and business-minded approach also allows him to help clients identify potential
avenues of liability so that they can be avoided. He is regularly retained by
clients to conduct internal investigations to ensure their adherence to compliance
regimes, such as those mandated by the Competition Act, the Occupational
Health and Safety Act and the Highway Traffic Act. Sanj also defends
entities that are under investigation by provincial and national regulatory
authorities.
Sanj is a part of
the faculty that teaches trial advocacy to law students at Osgoode Hall Law
School. He is also an instructor at the Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop, an
annual course offered by Osgoode Professional Development and York University,
which teaches young advocates advanced trial advocacy techniques.
Outside of law,
Sanj’s interests include cooking, travelling and reading, particularly Canadian
and 19th century English fiction.
