Rikki is a skilled advocate who provides strategic legal advice to Indigenous clients on matters at the intersection of Indigenous, Aboriginal and corporate law. In doing so, she addresses her clients' unique needs and aspirations, including by reaching durable and lasting solutions that protect their rights, advance their economic prosperity goals, and help them achieve their distinct visions of self-determination and self-governance.
Rikki is a member of the firm's Indigenous Practice Group. She is also a member of the firm's Corporate/Commercial, Public Policy & Government Relations and Environmental Groups.
Rikki's practice focuses on assisting Indigenous clients in advancing economic development initiatives and achieving their long-term prosperity and cultural vitality goals. She regularly works closely with her clients in negotiating impact benefit agreements, government-to-government agreements and major project developments. In advancing this work, Rikki uses her Aboriginal and corporate law knowledge to craft innovative solutions that promote economic reconciliation and facilitate Indigenous peoples participation in major projects or economic initiatives that include a significant decision-making role and equity ownership.
Additionally, Rikki maintains a broad corporate and real estate practice that encompasses setting up and reorganizing corporate entities, real estate conveyances, asset and share purchase transactions, and drafting shareholder agreements and commercial leases.
Prior to joining Aird & Berlis, Rikki practised at a large international law firm specializing in Aboriginal law. Rikki was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and is a citizen of the Métis Nation with ancestral ties to St. Albert and St. Norbert in the Red River Settlement.
