Michael draws on his strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail to provide lenders and borrowers with pragmatic legal advice on complex financing projects. He is a dedicated team player and works tirelessly to advance his clients' interests and resolve issues in a timely manner.

Michael is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Group. He advises clients across a broad range of industries on corporate and commercial lending transactions, including bilateral and syndicated financings, asset-based lending, real estate financings, cross-border financings, venture debt and subordinated debt.

Representative Matters

Represented an investment management firm in its acquisition of retail assets associated with Canadian retail brands as part of a restructuring matter.

Represented Stonebridge Financial Corporation, a Toronto-based financial services firm with a focus on financial advisory and arranging of project financings in the infrastructure and energy sectors, in the closing of a long-term, fixed rate debt financing for Crown Ridge Health Care Services Inc.

Assisted KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc., with its US$285 million cross-border financing for HR Ottawa, L.P., in connection with the redevelopment of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Represented a U.S. private equity firm that invests in technology, business services and industrial companies as Canadian counsel in its acquisition of all of the issued and outstanding shares of a Canadian-based cybersecurity firm and amendments to the fund’s term and asset-based credit arrangements.

Acted as legal counsel to San Cristobal Mining Inc., a private mining company formed under the laws of British Columbia, in its acquisition of Minera San Cristóbal S.A. and all associated assets from Sumitomo Corporation, as well as a related equity financing and two debt financings.
