Daniella is a dedicated commercial real estate lawyer. She thrives in the fast-paced environment of transactional work and is committed to providing her clients with proactive and effective legal advice. Daniella is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group. Her practice focuses on a broad range of real estate matters, such as the acquisition, disposition, development and financing of mixed-use, retail, commercial and industrial properties. She represents a variety of clients, including owners, developers, individual and institutional lenders, commercial real estate investment companies and REITs.

Representative Matters

Represented Allied Properties Real Estate Investment Trust, a leading owner-operator of distinctive urban workspace in Canada’s major cities, in the acquisition from Westbank of a 90% ownership interest in 400 West Georgia Street in Vancouver, and an additional 45% ownership interest in 19 Duncan Street in Toronto (increasing Allied’s ownership interest to 95%). The transaction was based on an aggregate property value of $920.7 million.

Advised First Capital REIT on the sale of 1629-1633 The Queensway in Etobicoke, Ontario for the purchase price of $34 million.

Advised First Capital REIT on the sale of its 50% interest in its Royal Orchard development site in Thornhill, Ontario, which is slated for multiple mixed-use towers and approximately 1.6 million square feet of density.

Advised First Capital REIT on the sale of the Yonge-Davis Centre located in Newmarket, Ontario.

Acted for Knightstone Capital Management in the sale of a 20 per cent equity share in the CampusOne residence in Toronto, Ontario.

Represented Linamar Corporation in its acquisition of Bourgault Industries Ltd., a leading agricultural equipment manufacturer, for $640 million. In conjunction with the Bourgault transaction closing, Linamar also finalized a new $700-million term loan agreement.

Represented Altree Developments Inc.Westdale Construction Co. Limited and Avenir Jersey Developments Limited (a company owned by associates of Lanterra Developments Inc.), as the sponsors, in West Side Square Development Fund’s US$50 million initial public offering and acquisition of an interest in the development of the West Side Square Project, which includes a 477-unit rental building and 9,800 square feet of commercial space at 66 Broadway in Jersey City, New Jersey. 

Advised First Capital REIT in its disposition of 5051 Yonge Street, Toronto for a sale price of $50 million.

Advised NYX Capital Corp. in its acquisition of a 22-acre development site near Toronto Pearson International Airport for a purchase price of $40.7 million. 

Advised Linamar Corporation (TSX: LNR) in connection with its acquisition of the Salford group of companies for an aggregate purchase price of $260 million.

Advised First Capital REIT in its acquisition, alongside Crestpoint Real Estate Investments Ltd., of Amberlea Shopping Centre, a 100,174 sq. ft. grocery and pharmacy anchored shopping centre in Pickering, Ontario for a purchase price of $45 million.

Advised First Capital REIT in its acquisition of an assembly of properties located at the major intersection of Bloor and Spadina and in connection with the structuring of a strategic partnership between First Capital and its partner.
