Toronto to Host IBA’s World Women Lawyers’ Conference for First Time

The International Bar Association’s World Women Lawyers’ Conference is making its debut in North America from October 23-25, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto. This prestigious event will bring together global leaders to champion gender equity and drive change for women in the legal profession. Keynote speakers include the Hon. Anita Anand, federal Minister of Transport, and Jeff Davis, chief legal officer and corporate affairs officer at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.

“Hosting the World Women Lawyers’ Conference in Toronto is a unique opportunity to highlight the progress women have made in the legal profession and engage leaders in the field to discuss the challenges that remain,” says Jennifer Bishop, Aird & Berlis Business Law Partner and Chair of the IBA’s Women Lawyers’ Committee. “This event will spark important conversations and help empower the next generation of women leaders to drive lasting change.”

With a focus on breaking barriers and fostering collaboration, the conference will feature panels on a wide array of topics including data protection, ESG and sustainability, and more. This will be coupled with sound advice from CEOs and general counsel, including Matthew Akman, executive vice-president of corporate strategy and president of power for Enbridge, and Sam Sebastian, vice-president and Canada country manager for Google Cloud, who will share their perspectives on gender equity.

This is a unique opportunity to engage with influential voices and drive meaningful change for women in law. The online registration deadline is October 15, 2024. Click here to register.
