In the first quarter of 2021, some of the cannabis industry's leading publicly listed companies saw significant increases in their share prices. During this time, valuations for private cannabis companies were also on the rise. This signaled a long-awaited rebound for the sector that ultimately cooled by late summer. There has also been a high volume of mergers and acquisitions this year.

As we marked the third anniversary of Canada's legalization of recreational cannabis on October 17, many are wondering where the industry may be headed in the final months of 2021 and beyond.
