Ontario Appoints Panel to Review the OEB
On Friday, December 15, 2017, Ontario announced that it appointed Richard Dicerni to head an expert panel to conduct a review of the province's independent energy regulator – the Ontario Energy Board. According to the announcement, the panel will seek feedback from the public starting in spring 2018, examine best practices from other jurisdictions and report back to the government by the end of 2018. The announcement may be found here This is a continuation of the prior expansion of regulation referenced in an earlier post that is contemplated by the LTEP. The electricity industry is under great pressure from customers, government and industry participants to manage the changes that are occurring very rapidly and for which traditional regulation was not intended.
