Aird & Berlis/Aird & McBurney Continue Sponsorship in Support of Startup Growth
Aird & Berlis LLP and Aird & McBurney LP are pleased to announce that they have renewed their sponsorship agreement with the Founder Institute (FI) Toronto. Founded in Silicon Valley and with chapters across 180+ cities worldwide, the Founder Institute has developed a structured, part-time four-month program that helps pre-seed entrepreneurs gain traction and obtain funding by providing expert training, feedback and support from experienced startup CEOs. According to Sunil Sharma, the program director for FI Toronto, almost 70 entrepreneurs and teams have enrolled for the latest semester starting today.
“We are huge supporters of the growing startup ecosystem of emerging tech companies in Toronto, and are delighted to sponsor FI and partner with these extraordinary entrepreneurs. Numerous successful Toronto-based companies trace their roots to FI, such as Overbond (a financial technology startup specializing in fixed income analytics) and Orbiseed Technologies (a proptech startup),” said Tony Sabeta, Co-Director of the Startups Group and Partner at Aird & McBurney LP. “We provide FI founders with practical and strategic legal expertise, including company formation and structuring, intellectual property strategy, financing, and other matters.”
The Startups Group brings together leading lawyers and patent agents from Aird & Berlis and Aird & McBurney to advise startups and emerging growth corporations on a variety of transactional and commercial matters. Industries served by the Startups Group include, among others, information and communications technology, software, cleantech, medical devices, financial services, telecommunications and manufacturing.
