Europe has dodged another bullet by accepting the inevitable and bailing out Greece. Would that the Americans were so lucky. Europe is suffering not only from the wide disparity among its various economies, but also the disparity in political cultures. Instead of lifting all boats, which was a primary objective of the European Union, the lowest denominator seems to drag the leading economies down. No wonder the German public is cross. The U.S. on the other hand, is being dragged down by political ideology on the one hand and a belief that the good times will never end on the other – political extremes that are becoming more and more entrenched with every tweet, twitter and television appearance.
The focus of this blog post is political commentary by a leading political commentator, and not legal discussion. The comments expressed are those of the writer.
